4. John Harry ZERBY, son of Lewis E. ZERBY ³ and Elizabeth BEELEY, was born on 10 Dec 1862 in Corrcord, Ill (Springfield?),⁴ died on 22 Dec 1954 in Coldwater, KS, at age 92, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetaery, Coldwater, KS.

General Notes: John H. Zerby was raised in Springfield, IL and moved to Carrollton, MO, where in 1882 he met and married Nancy Brandom. There is confusion as to what his middle name was, Harry or Hoarce. Most of the records have indicated that it was Hoarce, although the obituary in the Coldwater, KS newspaper referred to him as Harry.

Based on the birth information of their children it appears John and Nancy moved to Avilla, Commance Co., KS around 1887. They than moved to Oklahoma City for a short time around 1890 where their son Ross was born. They then moved back to Carroll county, Wakenda, MO where their last four children were born. According a DAR document they lived in Junction City, Kansas.

They spent a number of years in Supply, OK in the early 1900's. Their son, Percy, was working for the bank in 1910 and another son, Ross, was married in Supply in 1913. The 1920 Census shows John residing in Cimarron, Major County, OK.

Around 1925 John and Nancy moved to Coldwater, Kansas to live with their son, Martin L. Zerby. Two years later Nancy passed away. John died at the age of 92 in his son's home.

John married Nancy Hannah BRANDOM on 21 Dec 1882 in Carroliton, MO. Nancy was born on 24 Nov 1857 in Carol County, MO (Carrolton), died on 1 Feb 1927 in Commanhe, KS, at age 69, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetaery, Coldwater, KS.

2         i.  Percy Brandon ZERBY (born on 2 Feb 1885 in Carroliton, MO - died on 2 Apr 1963 in Oklahoma City, OK). Percy married Ora Cecilia MILLION, daughter of Burrell MILLION and Emma Catherine KELL, on 18 Jun 1917 in Enid, OK.² Ora was born on 18 Jul 1876 in Shelbina, MO. Williamstown??, died on 27 Mar 1968 in Oklahoma City, OK, at age 91, and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK. Percy next married Lillie May before 1910.

         ii.  Martin Leander ZERBY was born on 3 May 1888 in Coldwater, KS and died on 2 Jan 1961 in Coldwater, KS, at age 72. Martin married Martha FARMER before 1920 in Coldwater, KS. Martha was born on 22 Feb 1894 in Saguache, Saguache Co., CO and died in Oct 1975 in Coldwater, KS, at age 81.

        iii.  Louis (Lewis) H. ZERBY was born on 4 Apr 1888 in Avila, Comanche Co., KS and died in 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK, at age 67. Louis married Esther STONEBERG after 1920.

         iv.  Ross Morris ZERBY was born on 5 Dec 1890 in Oklahoma City, OK and died on 1 Jun 1973 in Manhattan, Riley Co., KS, at age 82. Ross married Mayme Ann FORBES on 25 Oct 1913 in Supply, OK. Mayme was born on 30 May 1893 and died on 8 Jan 1995, at age 101.

          v.  Sara Elizabeth ZERBY was born on 15 Feb 1893 in Wakenda, MO and died on 28 Oct 1966, at age 73. Sara married Jess WASSON.

         vi.  Thomas Edwin ZERBY was born on 25 Apr 1895 in Wakenda, MO and died in 1895 in Wakenda, MO.

        vii.  Ella A. ZERBY was born on 28 Feb 1887 in Wakenda, MO and died on 11 Dec 1985 in Manhattan, Riley Co., KS, at age 98. Ella married Gabriel TROCSANY on 30 Aug 1930. Gabriel died in 1966.

       viii.  Emily Adaline ZERBY was born on 5 Nov 1900 in Staudish, MO and died on 4 Aug 1993, at age 92.

5. Nancy Hannah BRANDOM, daughter of Thomas BRANDOM and Nancy Martin HANNAN, was born on 24 Nov 1857 in Carol County, MO (Carrolton), died on 1 Feb 1927 in Commanhe, KS, at age 69, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetaery, Coldwater, KS.

Nancy married John Harry ZERBY on 21 Dec 1882 in Carroliton, MO. John was born on 10 Dec 1862 in Corrcord, Ill (Springfield?),⁴ died on 22 Dec 1954 in Coldwater, KS, at age 92, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetaery, Coldwater, KS.

6. Burrell MILLION, son of Milton MILLION and Ann Elizabeth BRADSHAW, was born on 29 Oct 1851 in Monticello, MO, died on 11 Oct 1920 in Woodward, OK, at age 68, and was buried in Hennesy, OK.

General Notes: Burrell Million was born in 1851 in Monticello, Missouri where he was reared. Cancelled checks exist to show that he was in Farber, Missouri before coming to Oklahoma. He came to Oklahoma in 1904, first engaging in the banking business in Apache, where he was cashier of the Apache State Bank.

It is assumed that he met his wife, Emma Catherine Kell, when he moved to Apache. The Kells and the Blairs were among the first families to settle in Apache and became prominent families in the community. Emma's sister Ethel married a Blair. The Apache Musuem has artifacts and photos of both families.

Burrell then moved to Supply in 1911, where he bought the Bank of Supply and became its president. He led an active business life, giving liberally of both his time and means to the upbuilding of the community. He died in 1920 of heart trouble. After his death his son Burrell Jr. became president of the bank. Both Burrell and Emma are buried in Hennessey, Oklahoma, where her sister and father had a homestead.

The November, 1920 issue of The State Banker magazine contained an "In Memoriam" notice honoring his achievements in the banking industry.

Burrell married Emma Catherine KELL in 1877. Emma was born on 21 Jul 1856 in Indiana, died on 12 May 1937 in Woodward, OK, at age 80, and was buried in Hennesy, OK.

3         i.  Ora Cecilia MILLION (born on 18 Jul 1876 in Shelbina, MO. Williamstown?? - died on 27 Mar 1968 in Oklahoma City, OK). Ora married Arthur PERRY. Arthur died in 1911. Ora next married Percy Brandon ZERBY, son of John Harry ZERBY and Nancy Hannah BRANDOM, on 18 Jun 1917 in Enid, OK.² Percy was born on 2 Feb 1885 in Carroliton, MO, died on 2 Apr 1963 in Oklahoma City, OK, at age 78, and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK.

         ii.  Ethyl Marie MILLION was born on 30 Dec 1885 in Williamstown, MO and died on 3 Aug 1964 in Tulsa, OK, at age 78. Ethyl married Jesse Hiram BLAIR, son of Samuel BLAIR, on 15 Jul 1910. Jesse was born on 15 Jul 1886 in Harlan, KY and died on 15 Aug 1962 in Wichita, KS, at age 76.

        iii.  Burrell MILLION Jr. was born 2April 1892 and died on 16 Dec 1959 in Oklahoma City, OK, at age 67. Burrell married Jo NEWELL.

7. Emma Catherine KELL, daughter of Samuel KELL and Mary BRENNAN, was born on 21 Jul 1856 in Indiana, died on 12 May 1937 in Woodward, OK, at age 80, and was buried in Hennesy, OK.

Emma married Burrell MILLION in 1877. Burrell was born on 29 Oct 1851 in Monticello, MO, died on 11 Oct 1920 in Woodward, OK, at age 68, and was buried in Hennesy, OK.
